over 50,000 miles, across 5 continents, all on three wheels
Though they don't limit themselves to just motorcycles and sidecars, over the past 7 years Matt and Reece have travelled over 50,000 miles across the globe all on three wheels. In that time they have been pushed to their absolute limits in some of the worlds most extreme environments. Read about their most recent adventures below.
AROUND THE WORLD By SCOOTER AND SIDECAR
With zero mechanical expertise, having only passed their motorcycle tests 3 months before and having never even sat in a sidecar, on 21st October 2017 Matt and Reece set off attempting to circumnavigate the globe by scooter and sidecar. The journey saw the pair travel 35,000 miles through 35 countries and 5 continents all on a city commuter scooter and barn built sidecar.
The trip saw them tackle some of the worlds harshest environments including the sands of the Sahara, the dizzy heights of the Andes and a Siberian winter where temperatures dropped as low as -45ºC.
Throughout the adventure, they chose to raise funds and awareness for charities fighting modern day slavery whilst also on a journey to discovery what people were like in the world outside their home town of Banbury. On 19 January 2019, having broken down in every continent they travelled through, relying on the help and kindness of strangers in every country they travelled, they returned to the UK as the first people to ever circumnavigate the globe by scooter and sidecar.

Seattle to los Angeles off road
In the summer of 2022, Matt and Reece teamed up with Ural Motorcycles to put the new, Ural Expedetion Model to the test with an off road adventure from the top to bottom of the United States from Seattle to Los Angeles. Unlike their scooter and sidecar, this particular motorcycle and sidecar really was built for purpose and it meant The Sidecar Guys were tasked with finding out what it was made of in some of the most remote, off road areas of the US. They travelled over 2,000 miles with the majority off road across Washington, Idaho, Nevada and California.

Wild ride project
In April 2023 The Sidecar Guys partnered with The BMIC to make a series of short films which explored whether it was possible to have an adventure in the UK. They travelled to some of the most scenic, incredible spots the UK has to offer exploring some of the remote parts in the process including England's highest Green Lane.
The project also provided a fascinating insight in to the motorcycle community and the answer to whether you could have an adventure at home was a definite Yes!
